Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Here are answers to common questions from parents and caregivers considering CBT therapy at Bright Path Therapy

Is CBT suitable for neurodivergent children?

CBT can be helpful for neurodivergent children when it is adapted appropriately. At Bright Path Therapy, CBT is delivered in a flexible, neurodiversity-affirming way that respects each child’s individual needs, communication style and pace.

2

Do you work with neurotypical children as well?

Yes. While I specialise in supporting neurodivergent children and young people, I also work with neurotypical children experiencing anxiety, emotional difficulties or low confidence.

3

Where are sessions offered?

Sessions are offered online for families across Rugby, Coventry, Warwickshire, and the wider UK. Sessions can also take place within schools. Where travel is required, mileage costs may apply and will always be agreed beforehand.

4

How long does therapy last?

The length of therapy varies depending on the child’s needs and goals. Some children benefit from short-term support, while others may need longer-term input. This is reviewed collaboratively throughout therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do parents need to attend sessions?

Parent involvement is discussed on an individual basis. Some sessions may involve parent check-ins or parent-only sessions, depending on what best supports the child.

2

What happens after a CBT assessment?

Following an assessment, recommendations will be discussed with parents. This may include ongoing 1:1 therapy, alternative support options, or guidance on next steps. An assessment does not automatically guarantee ongoing therapy.

3

Are group sessions always available?

Group CBT programmes run subject to sufficient uptake for a particular presenting concern. Where a group is not able to run, families may be offered 1:1 sessions and added to a group waiting list with priority for future groups.

4

Is parent support therapy?

Parent support sessions provide guidance and consultation rather than therapy for the parent. These sessions focus on practical strategies to support your child’s emotional wellbeing.
